Are your sprinklers hard at work all summer long? Do you use a lot of water maintaining your pool? Water costs can skyrocket during the spring and summer months when outdoor water consumption is high, mainly because the water company assumes that all of the water used is going into the sewer. But should you be paying high sewage costs and water treatment costs when much of the water was used for irrigation?
Unfortunately, if you only have one water meter, the water company has no way of identifying what water is going down into the sewer and what water isn’t. That’s why many homeowners opt to have a second water meter installed for outdoor water usage. When you have a second water meter installed, indoor and outdoor water use can be separated so you don’t end up paying sewage costs for water used outdoors. For a homeowner with a large yard or a pool, that’s good news since sewer service fees can be incredibly high.

How much and does Wakefield allow a second meter?
hi i live a 150 unit condo in florida and we are considering installing irrigation only meters with our existing irrigation system. Do you know approximately what percent of the water is irrigation versus water for the 150 units plus a pool. only 40 percent of homeowners live there full time. Would really appreciate your thoughts. We are trying to save money by not paying the sewer charge part of the bill related to our irrigation system
